Japan x Taiwan: Make Nittobo Quality Borderless

January 17, 2026

JIANG HAO AN

Graduated from Innovative Global Program (IGP) in March 2025

Nittobo (Nitto Boseki Co., Ltd.)

Job details

I work in the Technology Development Division, the R&D heart of Nittobo. My role centers on electrical engineering for special electronic glass fibers used in AI chips and GPUs, etc, alongside providing technical training for our staff in Taiwan.

The department is strict on quality but remarkably open-minded and patient with people. I feel truly happy to grow in an atmosphere that truly values both hard technical expertise and soft generic skills.

How do you use what you learned at Shibaura Institute of Technology in your current profession?

My time in the Innovative Global Program taught me not only specialized knowledge but also how to collaborate within diverse environments.

Under the mentorship of Prof. Yamada and Prof. Uma, I learned to tackle open-ended corporate challenges—problems with no textbook answers. This mindset allowed me to find my role in the team quickly.

Having experienced it firsthand, I believe this practice-oriented education is the reason for Shibaura's outstanding reputation in the industry.

In your professional life, what kinds of cross-sector or interdisciplinary activities are you involved in, and what do you think is important for working across fields?

As a Taiwanese in Japan, I translate my cross-cultural background into unique values in the workplace. I am dedicated to bridging gaps—not just in communication, but also in differing ways of thinking.

I believe true cross-sector work requires two things: respect for differences, and the curiosity and courage to say, "Let's try looking at this from your perspective." From student days to my career, I've received so much care and support from seniors, as well as from the big Senpai of the alumni association. Just as they did, I aspire to become a bridge myself—one that links our different mindsets and connects Taiwan with Japan.

Message to Shibaura Institute of Technology Students

Leverage resources and networks to expand possibilities.

I met the company thanks to an on-campus information seminar and a company visit for my laboratory organized by the Nittobo HR department. I saw these as opportunities to understand the company's vision and experience its unique appeal.

These in-person activities were the key factors in my decision to join.
