From June 10 to 18, 2025, Shibaura Institute of Technology held an international joint project called gPBL (Global Project Based Learning) with Silpakorn University (SU), Thailand.
The program welcomed 12 students and 2 faculty members from Silpakorn University to our university,Department of Electronic Engineering, Advanced Electronic Engineering CourseThe students worked on the latest research topics together with students from the
Experimental themes are at the forefront of a realistic laboratory!
Students were divided into the following three labs.
- Laboratory for fabrication and evaluation of functional thin films
- Professor Hiroyasu Ishikawa, Semiconductor Electronics Laboratory
- Professor Masanori Nakano, Superstructured Quantum Materials and Electronics Laboratory
- Laboratory for mechatronics and GPS applications
- Professor Yoshikazu Koike, Electromechanical Systems Laboratory
For each laboratory,3 students from Shibaura Institute of Technology, 4 students from Thailandform one team and take on a theme similar to actual research.
After learning the background of the research in a short lecture, the students learned how to use the equipment, fabricated thin films, made measurements, and conducted experiments using GPS. On the final day, each teamPresentation of results in EnglishThe participants deepened their understanding through a lively question-and-answer session with the participating faculty members.
Learn and connect with other cultures
Many students from Shibaura Institute of Technology participated in this gPBL.
The way they overcame differences in nationality and language and worked together to solve problems was truly the first step toward becoming "global engineers. The participants said, "I am very happy to have been a part of this program,
It was difficult to discuss things in English, but I felt that I had grown."
It was a very stimulating experience, including the cultural differences."
Many of them said that they were very happy with the results.
At Shibaura Institute of Technology, you will have many opportunities to learn and challenge yourself with your peers from around the world.
Through these gPBL programs, we nurture international perspectives and practical technical skills.
As a future researcher or engineer, would you like to make your mark on the world stage?
