The annual [communication exercise with hand flags].
Orientation for new students was held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The Information and Communication Engineering Course has a traditional orientation content that has continued for about 20 years. which has been in existence for about 20 years. This is an important opportunity for the students to experience the information coding and communication technology that they will learn in the Information and Communication Engineering Course, and to learn about what they are going to learn. Hand signals" are a unique Japanese visual communication method invented by the Navy during the Meiji period (1868-1912). During the orientation, the participants were divided into groups of about 10 and discussed how to transmit letters and dot pictures using only red and white hand flags, and competed with each other in terms of accuracy and speed of transmission and reception. After the exercise, the participants presented the methods they had devised and discussed the results. Above all, I think it was a good start to my university life, as the students in my group became closer to each other through the exercise.
